Your New Role

In this role you will assist in the discharge of the Local Authority's statutory functions relating to school attendance, child employment and entertainment and children missing education. You will be involved in conducting absence reviews with schools, as well as initiating, co-ordinating and chairing Fast Track Panels for prosecution. You will monitor schools to ensure they are meeting their responsibilities as well as providing advice and guidance to schools on legal/statutory process in relation to attendance. You will support the para-legal officers and undertake visits to employers in accordance with Child Employment and Entertainment Regulations. You will conduct enquiries to Children Missing Education referrals and undertake/monitor Elective Home Education visits. You will also develop relationships with schools to ensure attendance is promoted effectively.

What you'll need to succeed

You will need to demonstrate a high level of competency and accuracy in recording, report writing and other written work, as well as the ability to analyse and use attendance data. You should be able to draft legal documents and offer both challenge and support to schools with regard to all aspects of improving attendance and trading related services. You should be able to offer the same challenge and support to employers / production companies with regard to all aspects of child employment. You should demonstrate the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines as well as an understanding of a wide range of legislation relevant to the post. You should have experience of chairing meetings and formulating plans and be able to work from your own initiative. A driving licence and daily use of a vehicle is required for this post.
