An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious and innovative (newly qualified, experienced, advanced) Occupational Therapist to join the Adult Social Care team, South team in North Somerset.
You will work in close partnership with people with care and support needs, their families, carers and a range of multi-agency partners to achieve desired and eligible outcomes.
Working within key legislative frameworks including the Care Act 2014, the Mental Capacity Act 2005, Housing and Regeneration Act 2008 and Manual Handling Regulations 1992, you will make defensible decisions in partnership with people with care and support needs, supporting them to take positive risks in order to promote and balance their independence, safety and wellbeing.
You will use your occupational therapy knowledge, skills and values to promote the rights and choices of people with care and support needs. You will have access to regular reflective supervision which empowers you to make evidence informed professional judgements drawing on the latest research, theories, legislation and policy frameworks. You will be given the freedom to practice in a truly strength-based way which recognises the importance of prevention and occupational therapy.
Among other duties, you will undertake assessments for equipment and minor adaptations under the Care Act, working within section 2 to prevent, reduce or delay the onset of needs.
You will support people to identify and build upon their existing assets as well as access new resources which will promote their independence and wellbeing and help prevent over-reliance on the social care system. You will be comfortable navigating significant levels of complexity and risk to support people to achieve the best possible outcomes.
You will maintain your professional registration with HCPC and be committed to promoting social justice and challenging inequality and discrimination in all forms.
