WECA’s Innovation and Sector Development Team drives Cross-sectoral Innovation as envisaged by our Local Industrial Strategy, supporting clean and inclusive economic growth and making a real change to the lives of the residents in our region. Being new within the authority’s Business and Skills Directorate, we are developing our team’s ways of working both internally and externally, and we are growing.
We work with our colleagues across the combined authority and its constituent local authorities as well as with the region’s diverse and exciting innovation ecosystem, including its universities and businesses and organisations of all sizes. Regional innovation capability has been identified as key to economic recovery and resilience building throughout and following the COVID19 pandemic, and the team is focussed on delivering its significant contribution to the recovery effort.
We are now looking for a dedicated, enthusiastic and experienced colleague to work within our friendly and agile team. You don’t need to be an innovation specialist (yet) – it’s your sustained focus on the impact of your work, and your curiosity regarding innovation in economic and sector development, that will really set you apart. You will be a confident communicator, with the ability to produce engaging and attractive reports and presentations to get the team’s message across to a diverse audience. You will be passionate about researching the facts and helping examine the data that underpin the team’s decision making, and keen to support funding bids and delivery of programmes.
If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you! For an informal chat, please contact Dagmar Steffens, Head of Innovation and Sector Development Service, on 0777 593 4013, and to apply, please click below.
Appointment to this role is on a fixed term basis for 2 years.
Interviews will be held virtually 20 and 21 October 2020.
