Wokingham Borough Council are currently recruiting for a full time permanent Virtual School Post-16 Officer (37 hours per week, Term Time only - 195 days) to work with the Learning, Achievement and Partnership Team in Children’s Services. This position is based at Aldergrove C of E School, Shinfield. You will report directly to the Head Teacher of the Virtual School. 
The Virtual School is established to support the delivery of successful learning and achievement outcomes and positive educational experiences for all children and young people on roll, including Children in Care/Care Leavers/SGOs and post adoption. The purpose of the role is to provide advice, guidance, challenge and support for all stakeholders around the education of Care Experienced young people, as well as providing training for Designated Teachers, Social Workers and Foster Carers. 
 
Key Duties, Responsibilities & Accountabilities:- 
• Lead and Implement the work of the preparing for Adulthood Framework and transition to adulthood pathway in accordance with Children and Families Act 2014. 
• Lead on the development of Post-16 provision for young people to meet the needs of the learners 
• Work with internal and external partners (such as NEET Prevention Team, Personal Advisors, Social Workers, SEND Team and independent specialist providers) 
• Support young people to achieve successful long term outcomes into Education, Training and Employment 
• Responsibility for the effective management and tracking of all Care Experienced learners aged 16-25 
• Partner with schools, social workers and carers to provide advice and support to improve attendance, reduce exclusions and improve outcomes for young people in care 
• Influence Schools and College Leaders to progress individual cases to remove barriers to access to education 
• Support the Virtual Head in driving forward cultural, workforce and other changes necessary to ensure services cohere around young people’s needs and secure improvement outcomes 
 
Skills, Knowledge & Experience required:- 
• Sound knowledge of Children and Adult Social Care 
• Sound understanding and knowledge of Post-16 Courses, training and employment opportunities for learners 
• Must have experience of interagency working to support vulnerable children or young people in a school or further education 
• IT literate and experience of Microsoft Office 
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
 
Qualifications Required:- 
• Degree level or equivalent relevant professional qualification 
• Enhanced DBS check 
• Qualified Teacher Status is desirable but not essential 
• UK Driving Licence is essential
