The post holder will be responsible for investigating complaints made to the Council about possible breaches of planning legislation, e.g. work being carried out without planning permission or not in accordance with approved plans.
Duties will include site visits, interviewing the persons involved, collecting evidence, presenting evidence at appeals and appearing in court. The postholder will seek to resolve breaches of planning control through negotiation or by planning enforcement procedures and will be supported in this role by qualified planning staff in the Development, Heritage and Environment team.
The successful candidate will have good negotiation skills and be capable of producing accurate and thorough work. High standards of customer service and the ability to deal with all of our customers with tact and sensitivity are essential.
Experience of planning enforcement work is desirable.
