Starting salary: JG6 £25,481 per annum pro rata
Location: Based in the Town Hall, Weston-super-Mare
Hours: 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday

This role is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and adaptable PA/Secretary. The successful candidate will be an integral member of the Senior Leadership Support Team (a team of PAs providing comprehensive professional confidential support to the Corporate Leadership Team, the Leader, the Chief Executive, Directors, Assistant Directors and Heads of Service).
The successful candidate’s primary role will be to oversee and manage the arrangements for the council’s weekly Corporate Leadership Team meeting. Key tasks will include: -
- undertaking all necessary administrative functions for the meeting;
- monitoring and progressing the implementation of decisions and actions;
- co-ordinating diaries;
- being the focal point of liaison for the staff involved;
- undertaking research/project support, as necessary;
- provide any necessary background papers/presentation material prior to discussions;
- ensuring the meeting runs efficiently.
You will also be required to provide ad hoc PA/secretarial support to the Corporate Leadership Team (in consultation with the Senior Leadership Support Team Leader). This is likely to be as and when the need arises (i.e. to cover any periods of absence, specific project work).
The team is highly skilled and knowledgeable in local government and the public sector. Your role will require a comprehensive understanding of the organisation, its governance and decision-making arrangements, strong political awareness, proven PA experience.
You will need to be able to multi-task and work flexibly in an extremely busy environment, whilst continually looking to contribute to transforming the way the Senior Leadership Support Team delivers its service through smarter working.
