Job Title: Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Practitioner
Salary Range: M1 - £35,745 - £39,880pa + £6,000 relocation package, £1000 welcome payment & lease car* terms apply
Hours: 37 hours per week
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Team, which requires a full time Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Practitioner to support the Hertfordshire Supervisory Body. You will be a qualified and experienced Best Interests Assessor and as part of your role undertake complex assessments on behalf of the team. You will be required to supervise and mentor Best interests assessors and trainee Best Interests assessors. Part of the role will require you to facilitate and run forums and work with providers to increase their understanding of the DoLS process. There will be a requirement to scrutinise assessments ensuring that these meet the legal requirements for DoLS and complete authorisation papers as required. You would be joining an excellent team, receive regular supervision and will have training opportunities to keep your skills and knowledge up to date.
You will be a qualified Social Worker, Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Clinical Psychologist, with sound post-qualifying experience. As a qualified BIA you will have an in-depth knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards 2009, as well as an understanding of the implications of developing case law.
You will be a confident individual, capable of using your initiative to work effectively in some difficult and challenging situations. You will have good administrative and computer skills and the ability to complete excellent reports. You will be able to work with individuals with complex needs and to make judgements in relation to their mental capacity and best interests.
