This post is within the Highways Development Control team of Network Management. The team is responsible for the provision of professional and technical advice on all matters relating to highways development control issues. This will encompass provision of professional and technical advice to the Council, developers and their agents in relation to the construction of highways and associated infrastructure linked to new development; provision of expert advice on behalf of the Council in relation to public meetings; contribution to the management of movement of traffic on the highway network; liaison with other Council service units and teams within the Transport and Countryside service; and support for other services as required.
The successful candidate is expected to have a higher standard of education (Degree level or equivalent), with experience in highway planning, transportation impacts of infrastructure development and traffic management and a working knowledge of current highway law in relation to the developer highway works and infrastructure.
This role has been identified as public facing in accordance with Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2017; the requirement to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence in English applies.

This role requires the incumbent to have a car available at work to undertake his/her duties as they will be expected to undertake at least 1500 business miles per year. Essential Car User status attracts a lump sum allowance paid on a monthly basis as well as a free car parking space if he/she works at one of the Council’s corporate buildings.
