About the role

Job Introduction

Independent Reviewing Officer / Child Protection Advisor

If you are a talented Children’s Service Manager join our ‘Outstanding’ Children’s Social Care Team in the crucial role of Independent Reviewing Officer and Child Protection Advisor. You will discover a highly-supportive environment in one of the top performing authorities in the South; a service that has brought together a talented workforce and experienced managers to create an enviably strong and effective department.

We expect you to be a qualified, experienced and creative Children’s Services’ Manager with the skills to chair Child Protection Conferences and statutory review for our Looked After Children.  You will provide a high-level of quality assurance in the formulation and implementation of outcome-focussed children’s plans.  You will be committed to promoting the participation of children, young people and their families in all aspects of the assessment, reviewing and planning process.

Because we know what it takes to do this job effectively, we have made significant investment in our Children’s Safeguarding Unit to ensure that you and your team can carry out a meaningful quality assurance role.

Motivated to improve outcomes for children

You will need to have relevant experience as a manager and be able to demonstrate strong management and leadership skills.

Your practice must be evidence-based and you should be up-to-date on current theories and research. You will receive individualised support through a range of training and development opportunities to enable you to succeed in this role and progress your career.

As a pioneer of multi-agency working, you’ll be working closely with a range of organisations.

We are making a difference

We know our approach is making a difference because that’s what children and young people tell us.  We were judged 'Outstanding' from Ofsted and in our July 2018 inspection.
