West Berkshire Council’s Housing Service has undergone a significant amount of change with an ambitious Service Improvement Programme coupled with investment designed to make it an excellent housing service and a leading housing authority in the region.
We are now looking for a Homelessness Prevention and Relief Team Leader who will compliment and add to our vision and journey in becoming an excellent housing service. The successful candidate will lead a team of officers focused on the proactive prevention of homelessness, creative resolution of homeless cases as well as assist with the implementation of a new housing ICT system. This is an exciting opportunity for an exceptional individual to join our Housing Service.
You will be responsible for managing a team of up to six Homelessness Prevention and Relief Officers, overseeing assessments of need, and providing day to day operational guidance to frontline officers amongst other responsibilities.
If you have hands on experience of managing a frontline homelessness team, an excellent grasp of part 7 of the Housing Act 1996 as amended by the Homelessness Reduction Act, experience of drafting complex section 184 decisions and looking for a challenging and rewarding role, we would love to hear from you!
A strong commitment to providing ongoing exceptional customer service and ongoing service improvement is essential to this role.

This role has been identified as public facing in accordance with Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2017; the requirement to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence in English applies.
