The Welsh Government Test, Trace, Protect strategy is a critical element of controlling the COVID19 pandemic and is designed to enhance health surveillance in the community. It will undertake effective and extensive contact tracing, and support people to self-isolate where required to do so. As part of the Gwent Regional response Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council are currently recruiting a number of critical positions to join our Contact Tracing Team. The Contract Tracing service operates 7 days a week, 8am to 8pm and is key to slowing the spread of COVID-19 and keeping our local community a safe place to live and work. This service is provided on a remote working basis with all roles being homebased. IT equipment will be provided.

The Shift Coordinator will be responsible for the day to day management of the Contact Tracing Team coordinating the workflow, providing technical support on the National Data Management System, liaising with the regional teams and clinical leads, problem solving on complex situations and providing staff training, maintain staffing levels and rotas to ensure an efficient and effective service is provided at all times.
The role of the Contact Tracer will be to respond to cases who have tested positive to having COVID-19. Details of these cases will be provided by Regional teams following confirmation of a positive test result. They will be responsible for calling positive cases and interviewing them to establish who they have been in close contact with prior to the test. This will involve using a case management system to record all the details of those contacts so that these can be followed up and advice provided. Contact tracers will also provide advice on how positive cases can look after themselves, details of isolation dates and where to seek further help if required. Detailed scripts and training will be available.
The Contact Advisor will make outbound calls to advise individuals that they have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID19. They will provide advice on self-isolation and maintain daily contact with the individuals during their period of isolation which is typically 14 days from the exposure date. Detailed scripts and training will be available.
