Head of External Communications

We are looking for a Head of External Communications to join our multi award winning Communications Service in London’s most exciting borough.
Over the past few years we have created one of the best performing local government communications services winning national awards for campaigns, social media, ethics and crisis management.
We have also built and nurtured an online audience of over 100,000 users, and communications infrastructure to help tell our story and deliver two-way engagement so we can work with our residents to create a better borough.
But we want to go further, and our new Head of External Communications will be key to achieving it.
The role is for a senior, high calibre public sector communications specialist with;
· Significant leadership and management experience
· Experience in leading and evaluation campaigns
· Strong media, social media and consultation experience
· Excellent eye for detail, design and writing skills
· Political nous
· Strong relationship management skills
· Experience working in a local authority or government organisation is preferable
