Salary: £32,430 to £36,711 pa
To contribute to meeting the Council’s legal responsibilities with regard to managing asbestos containing materials in council buildings.
To carry out surveys of premises owned and/or managed by the Council in respect of the duty to manage asbestos containing materials (ACMs).
To Assist the Council in meeting its statutory obligations with regard to the duty to manage ACMs.
To improve the safety of premises within the corporate and commercial portfolio of the Council through the provision and management of health and safety information, education and advice.
To deliver public protection outputs for the Enforcement and Safety Group as directed.
You will need to have a good knowledge of the application of asbestos legislation, codes of practice and relevant international/European standard along with an excellent general understanding of the practical application of the management of asbestos-containing materials.
You will need to have a good knowledge and understanding of the application of the Health and Safety at Work, etc Act 1974 and the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 in respect of the responsibilities of duty holders as well as a good understanding of construction and safety technology, surveying techniques, schedules of work and the application of risk assessment.
You will need to hold appropriate qualifications in the surveying of buildings for asbestos-
containing materials, bulk sampling and legislative requirements, to a standard equivalent to the British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS) proficiency Module P402 - Building Surveys and Bulk Sampling.
You will need to hold a current full licence which enables the applicant to drive in the UK.
