An exciting opening has arisen for an experienced and qualified Occupational Therapist to develop a career in adult social care. If you are HCPC registered and you have completed your preceptorship (ASYE post June 2012) then this could be the role for you.

As an Occupational Therapist based in a Locality Team you will be given the opportunity to work with a variety of clients who have differing needs. The clients we work with may experience a learning disability, physical or sensory impairment, mental health and/or be an older person.

You will develop a range of skills enabling you to undertake front-line holistic occupational therapy practice within a social care setting, building your professional experience in major adaptations, reablement skills gain programs, moving and handling assessments with the aim of supporting our clients to live independently in the community.

You will be part of a multi-skilled team which includes: social workers, occupational therapists, assistant social Care practitioners and reablement personnel. As a team we provide support to vulnerable adults and their carers in a community based setting.

Part of your community based role requires you to carry out home visits within your locality area and on occasion travelling outside of the county. Some of these settings include clients homes, residential care and nursing homes.

In return for your skills and commitment, we offer you a competitive starting salary equivalent to that of a band 6 OT in a health care setting. We invest in our staff by offering a large variety of training courses. Through training and experience, you will be equipped with transferable skills to facilitate your continuing professional development and provide potential for on-going career development.

In Adult Social Care we value our staff and as part of that commitment we ensure all our staff have a full induction. The induction programme is designed to ensure new starters complete their mandatory training and are equipped with the skills and knowledge to undertake their new role. The programme will consist of a variety of classroom training, E-learning and workplace shadowing opportunities. For further information regarding what the induction programme consists of please see the attached document.
