About the role

NURSERY TEACHING ASSISTANT APPRENTICE

The Headteacher and IEB are delighted to be able to offer the opportunity for an Teaching Assistant Apprentice to work in our nursery with outstanding qualities to join the Telscombe Team in September 2020.

Telscombe Cliffs Primary School and Nursery is situated on the coast about 6 miles east of Brighton.  It is a larger than average 3-form entry primary school with a nursery in-house.  The school is very popular with very few spare places throughout.  Currently on roll there are approximately 674 pupils including nursery.

We believe that all children have the right to a quality education and we will work with our highly skilled and experienced staff to ensure that children are at the centre of everything we do.  We provide a safe, nurturing and inspirational place in which to learn.

Teaching Assistants form part of a team who work in all areas of the school and support students with either learning or social and emotional needs.  They work in lessons, one to one or with a small groups of students as directed by the teacher and the senior leadership team.

An apprenticeship is a great way to develop a broad range of skills, build confidence and kick start a journey of professional learning and development. The apprenticeship will be made up of practical employment experience whilst having an education programme that will lead on to a nationally recognised qualification. You will learn to work in a school environment supporting the learning and care of pupils. You will learn to work with a team and as an individual. Observation and assessment by professional teachers and assessors takes place throughout the term of apprenticeship to build upon your levels of understanding leading toward your qualification, adding to your portfolio of evidence of written work and reflective practice. The successful applicant will have a training provider in place to support them and online resources to help them gain valuable knowledge.

As an Apprentice you will also gain valuable work-based skills:

  • experience of working with pupils of all abilities including those who have social and emotional needs
  • create good working relationships to support pupils effectively and promote positive values, attitudes and behaviour
  • knowledge and understanding to effectively use resources to engage pupils and achieve positive pupil outcomes

In return, we can offer you:

  • strong leadership and a supportive, enthusiastic staff team
  • opportunities for making an impact with plenty of encouragement to try out creative ideas and to develop professionally as a leader of learning
  • a vibrant, friendly and well resourced working environment
  • staff who are committed to continuous improvement for all staff and pupils
