About the Post:
Following a recent Future Council Improvement Review, we are seeking a highly motivated Assistant Service Manager to manage the delivery of an efficient and effective core service offer for Neighbourhood Services. The Assistant Service Manager will manage the Grass Cutting function but will be expected to provide resilience on a contingency basis as required across the full span of the service offer. With experience of managing front line/logistically-based services, you will support the development and mobilisation of the new core service operating model working in partnership with a range of key stakeholders to modernise service delivery ensuring the right service is delivered at the right time and place with a strong focus on improved outcomes for customers, residents and communities. You will provide support to ensure the new operating principles are embedded in front-line practice whilst ensuring that the service remains agile and able to respond to emerging priorities through the adoption of a risk-based approach.
You will have excellent communication and negotiation skills and have experience of effectively managing the performance of operational teams. You will have knowledge of health and safety procedures, relevant legislation and have experience of documenting and implementing operational working practices. Strong leadership and management skills will be essential together with the ability to skilfully and assertively challenge current practice to ensure a culture of excellence and continuous improvement is embedded in the new operating model.
If you feel you have the necessary skills and abilities to help us to successfully mobilise a modern and efficient core service, we would very much welcome your application.
