The Role

Occupational Therapist - Mental Health Care and Support Team (CAST)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, creative and flexible occupational therapist to join the Southwark Mental Health Care and Support Team.

We are a Mental Health Adult Social Care team providing person centred and strength based assessments and support to adults under the framework of the Care Act 2014 and s117 MHA. A central aim is to reduce, prevent and delay the need for care provision and improve the adults wellbeing.

Our highly skilled multi-disciplinary team consists of Social Workers, Assistant Practitioners and Occupational Therapists.

The adults we work with are 18-65 and have care and support needs primarily due to a mental disorder and are living in the community. Some will have more complex needs and require a multi-agency approach to ensure their needs are met.

As an Occupational Therapist in the team you will undertake assessments guided by the Care Act and the Model of Human Occupation, and focus on identifying person-centred goals.

You will support people to maximise their independence by developing their skills, motivation and confidence through interventions including rehabilitation and adaptation. You will utilise all the resources in the community to enable a client's needs to be met as well as using personal budgets.

You will develop your knowledge and skills at working in adult social care. This will include areas such as safeguarding, care act assessments and reviews and facilitating direct payments for clients.

We have a robust professional and management supervision structure and there will be opportunities to develop your skills as a supervisor and a placement educator.

Our strong CPD programme includes access to a wide range of training, regular Occupational Therapy meetings and forums both locally and with our colleagues in the Southwark Physical Disabilities Occupational therapy services.

For further information about the role please contact Emily Brunton on 020 7525 2622.
