About the Post:
Youth Voice and Participation Support Worker (LAC&YP)
This post operates on an any 5 from 7 basis with the weekly work pattern varying to total 12hrs per week including regular evening work with Children and Young People in accordance with their needs. This post does also require some weekend work on the occasional overnight residential experience.
The Targeted Youth Support Service is looking for an enthusiastic individual to join the Youth Voice and Participation Team to provide youth voice support to Children and Young People aged predominantly 11 – 25yrs who are Looked After or Care Leavers.
You will be employed for 12 hours per week to support existing structures and pathways that enable the voice and views of Looked After Children and Young People and Care Leavers to be considered in the development of strategies and services that affect them and their individual needs in a way that is fully participatory and independent to statutory services.
You will establish and maintain informal positive and professional relationships with Children, and Young People who are Looked After and Care Leavers via events and face to face sessions in schools, youth groups and outreach work whilst supporting a range of youth consultations across council services and partner organisations. The post holder will work across a variety of different settings including schools, youth groups and the community to meet the needs of Children and Young People in their own environment.
The role will provide direct face to face support to Children and Young People who are Looked After or Care Leavers and will work alongside the Youth Voice and Participation Coordinator to support the formal and informal interface with stakeholders and decision makers. The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate a proven track record in engaging and motivating Children and Young People using creative informal methods and approaches.
