It’s official! Harrow is a good place to work. In their recent inspection of our Children’s Service, Ofsted noted that Harrow has a strong, effective and stable senior leadership which has led to sustained improvements in both the quality and impact of social work practice for children in need of help and protection, and those in care. They observed we have a culture of high support and professional accountability, but are not complacent. We agree.

Staff say Harrow is a good place to work and vulnerable children and their families have the benefit of good quality help and support.

In the Children in Need Service, we are ambitious for children and to achieve good outcomes alongside them. We are proud of our innovative ways of working for example in the use of dedicated senior parenting assessors to drive forward outstanding assessments and to improve the court skills of SWs through workshops, individual mentoring and training.

In the Children in Need Service we run a Management School within the service which is attended by all, from aspiring to established managers including Head of Service. This approach is designed to allow all to learn and develop our management skills and styles so that we can provide effective leadership to our busy frontline service.

Our social workers are willing and able and extremely committed and they need the best support they can get. Our emphasis is on teamwork and contributing in what is a challenging but rewarding role. With that approach, we achieve well together.

We are excited to announce we have recently re-evaluated this role in the service.

 Senior Team Manager - MG2 Salary £54,912-£61,137

The successful applicant will be working closely with the Head of Service and have a key role in managing and supervising Team Managers/Pod Leaders and the Social Workers, with 50 staff reporting to them. The Pod Model is operated within the Children in Need service. This is a key role in ensuring efficient management of the teams across this section of the children’s pathway, responsible for managing children in need and child protection plans; and all PLO activity.

You will be energetic and inspirational, supporting our committed social workers in striving for best outcomes for children. The post holder will also have opportunities to contribute to the strategic planning for the service.

This is a full time position of 36 hours per week.

Applicants for the role will be able to demonstrate substantial experience in social work in a children’s setting, a minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Team Manager and an absolute commitment to achieving the best for children. Applicants will be able to demonstrate an ability to motivate, train and develop staff including managers, in improving outcomes for children and contributing to the strategic planning of work.

Applicants must demonstrate their commitment to supporting cultural competence within the organisation with an agenda which places equalities at the heart of what we do.

If you believe you have what it takes to join our lively and busy service in either of these two roles, we look forward to hearing from you. If there are a high number of applicants, this advert will close early, so to avoid disappointment, apply early.
