An opportunity has arisen in Havering to grow and strengthen our Public Health service. As part of this development, we are recruiting to three Public Health Specialist posts.

The Public Health Service is responsible for the commissioning and delivery of a range of services, providing high level strategic support to internal and external stakeholders, and advocating for primary prevention and health in all policies. In doing so, we work towards the Council’s ambitions to give children the best start in life, create stronger families, support the vulnerable, and enable people to live healthy, active and independent lives. Public Health Specialist
Grade 8 - £39,774 - £43,590 per annum
As a Public Health Specialist you will apply your knowledge of public health policy and practice to provide specialist advice and support to internal and external stakeholders. You will support and manage specific areas of public health work by working in partnership with colleagues across the Council and beyond, assess local health needs, interpret population health and wellbeing data, develop and implement strategies, evaluate interventions, and support commissioning and redesign of services.
You will work across the three domains of public health (health improvement, health protection and healthcare public health) as required, working at a strategic level to improve outcomes for the local population. You will also support our local response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
With a passion for improving population health and wellbeing, you will be enthusiastic about building and working in partnership with stakeholders and communities across Havering to facilitate improvements in health and social care outcomes.
You will be a graduate in Public Health, or similar, with sound knowledge of public health policy and strategy, epidemiology and health inequalities, and be able to evidence experience of applying this knowledge in practice. You will be confident in leading given areas of work at a strategic level.
You will be expected to participate in continuing professional development.
