London Borough of Barking and Dagenham Council is looking for child and family focused Social workers across children’s' services. The teams play a vital role in continuing the child’s journey when cases are transferred from the Assessment Service and where longer-term involvement is needed to try to resolve concerns about children’s welfare.

The team provides social work services to children and their families to safeguard and promote their welfare.  Your role will be to implement child protection and child in need plans, support looked after children, and to escalate cases through legal proceedings when required, liaising with partners within and without the council as necessary to ensure that services are provided efficiently and effectively. You’ll manage complex cases, planning intervention and support in a timely manner and, always, making sure that the children’s voices are heard and recorded consistently. As a Senior Social Worker, you will also support and mentor ASYE colleagues and will be encouraged to supervise students a Practice Educator, helping to develop the next generation of social workers.

We’ll also expect you to contribute to the team – helping us develop and improve standards and quality, helping us to achieve the best possible outcomes for our children and their families.

In return, we will give you the time and support you need to make a difference. We are driving down caseloads and investing heavily in better IT and mobile working technology to help staff spend more quality time doing what matters.
