Horsham District Council has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Planning Officer in our Applications Team.
Horsham has a local plan which was adopted in 2015 and has commenced an early review which is seeking to plan and deliver around 1000 new homes a year along with new jobs and accompanying infrastructure.
The successful post holder will take ownership of the full application process for complex minor development schemes from pre application discussions, through the application process, attend planning committees, conditions discharge and defending the Council at appeals in the event of refusals.
We are seeking a motivated individual who has experience of dealing with complex cases, has a willingness to learn and is adaptable to change. The successful postholder will be required to travel around the District, so the role requires a current UK driving licence and access to a car.
We work from a modern office building in Horsham Town centre, (although we are currently largely working from home), and you will be working with a friendly, supportive and dedicated team.
Horsham District Council encourages and supports their employees to have a healthy work life balance by supporting their professional development as well as offering 27 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays (pro-rata), a generous benefits package and an online platform offering discounts from online retailers. Staff are eligible to join a contributory pension scheme where the Council contributes up to 20% of pensionable salary. The Council also provides access to a car lease scheme.
For any questions relating to the post, please contact Guy Everest, Applications Team Leader, on 01403 215633, or Aimee Richardson, Principal Planning Officer, on 01403 215175.
