This is a critical appointment for Medway and the new Assistant Director will play a pivotal role in ensuring our continued trajectory towards good and beyond. Working as a key member in a reinvigorated leadership team with the support of the whole organisation and wider system, this appointment will catalyse the sustained improvement which will enable all of our learners to achieve their full potential.

The appetite to strengthen, sustain and further develop relationships with Education leaders in Medway and the instinctive ability to move between the strategic and operational dimensions of the role will offer challenge and opportunity to shape a constructive approach. We are looking for a candidate with an excellent knowledge of statutory powers and requirements, as well as strong emotional intelligence as to the range of levers available to accomplish this, through influence and collaboration. Confidence and credibility with key partners and stakeholders within and beyond Medway and the ability to work effectively with politicians will similarly be areas of strength.
Whether in Local Government now, or in the wider system, you will be passionate and ambitious to be part of a team committed to improving attainment and life chances for children and young people. You will also need to be forward and outward looking and a full and participative member of the corporate leadership team.
In return we offer you:
- Generous annual leave entitlement
- Generous local government pension scheme package
- Access to wider training and development qualifications
- Flexible working scheme
- Travel plan discounts
- Access to CAREFIRST advice & counselling service
- Employee discount scheme for national and local retailers
