About the role
You will manage a caseload of individuals requiring functional assessments and identify necessary interventions which may include, moving and handling, postural support and adaptations, to make a real difference to our service users.
We have roles available in our friendly and busy Reablement and Hospital Discharge Teams and Advice and Wellbeing Hub
The Reablement and Hospital Discharge Teams support individuals as part of the hospital discharge pathway to continue to meet the outcomes that are important to them, using innovative approaches.
Your role will be to support individuals to remain in their own homes and maximise their independence using a strengths-based approach working with the individual to find solutions. You will use equipment, adaptations, reablement approaches and OT interventions to support the individual. You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team working closely with community reablement staff and health colleagues.
The Advice and Wellbeing Hub supports individuals who are new to Social Services to continue to meet the outcomes that are important to them, using innovative approaches. You will support individuals to remain in their own homes and maximise their independence using a strengths-based approach working with the individual to find solutions. You will use equipment, adaptations, new techniques and OT interventions to support the individual. You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team.
You will have access to our Learning and Development programme and be supported in your career and personal growth with opportunities to learn and develop new clinical skills, helping you to build your Continuing Professional Development portfolio, extending your skills and supporting you to grow as a therapist.
OTs have had opportunity this year to undertake a variety of training including AMPS, Positive Behavioural Support, EDGE Complex Moving and Handling and specialist adaptation training.
You will have a laptop and support with home working and supported office access with excellent shadowing opportunities, training from OT colleagues and OT supervisor and the support of a Lead OT.
Outside Covid restrictions you would usually be based at The Avenue Centre, Conwy Close, Reading, RG30 4BZ – Parking available plus multiple bus routes direct from the Town Centre!
You will work within the legal framework provided by the statute, guidance, policies and procedures.
You will need to have:
- A degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy.
- HCPC registration.
We welcome graduate OTs and offer excellent support, supervision and induction with support from a Lead Occupational Therapist. In addition, we have monthly OT meetings.
