West Berkshire Council has an opportunity for a 30 hours per week HCPC registered Occupational Therapists to join our friendly and supportive East Locality team. We are a small Local Authority with a mixture of urban and rural communities which offers great variety and positive challenges. West Berkshire Council is embracing a new way of working with a strong focus on localities and strengths based approach to the people that we work with.
The Occupational Therapist will be working collaboratively with the Social Workers and Social Care Practitioners in a small team to identify ways to manage the needs of adults who need care and support in the community. The work is very varied and will involve working with adults with a wide range of needs and disabilities.
Skills in moving and positioning assessments and knowledge of seating solutions are essential to enable the people to maintain their independence and safety at home. Our Occupational Therapists also advise on adaptations to property and equipment provision and provide training to informal carers and care agency staff.
It will be important to work with both external partners (e.g. Health, Voluntary Sector) and internal partners (e.g. Housing, Safeguarding).

This role requires the incumbent to have a car available at work to undertake his/her duties as they will be expected to undertake at least 1500 business miles per year. Essential Car User status attracts a lump sum allowance paid on a monthly basis as well as a free car parking space if he/she works at one of the Council’s corporate buildings.
