We are looking for a Community Safety Officer to work within Medway Council’s busy Community Safety Team. Your role will involve dealing with complex community safety issues including anti-social behaviour, unlawful encampments, and criminal and civil enforcement within the community safety environment.
We want to ensure that Medway is a great place to live, work, study and visit and community safety is at the heart of that vision.
The post holder will be responsible for the management and investigation of anti-social behaviour cases including those involving tenants of Medway Council housing stock. In addition, they will be the lead officer for dealing with unlawful trespass and occupation of council land.
They will be expected to investigate cases, keep accurate records, gather evidence, and prepare enforcement related documentation to a high standard, whilst complying with legislation and council policy.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential as they will be dealing with a wide spectrum of the community in sometimes challenging situations. They will be expected to challenge individuals involved in anti-social behaviour and support victims throughout their investigation.
The post holder will be required to prepare and present evidence to criminal and civil courts and take part in conferences and meetings with a wide range of partner agencies at all levels.
They will be morally courageous and possess integrity, self-discipline, and self-motivation. They must be able to work as part of a team but will also be expected to work alone on enquiries.
The successful applicant will be working within the Community Safety Team at Medway Police Station so successful candidates will be subject to vetting before appointment.
