TYS Worker: VRU Parenting Support Project

This is an exciting opportunity to join an innovative parental support pilot project funded by London’s Violence Reduction Unit (VRU).  Working across the London boroughs of Camden and Islington the parental support project will deliver community based peer-to-peer support for parents and carers in the context of a public health approach to violence reduction. The pilot is a multi-level prevention programme that includes both a wider universal offer of programmes for parents and families, and a more targeted approach to families, where a need for a greater intensity of programme has been identified.

The TYS worker/s will work with children and families to support a positive transition from primary to secondary school.  Ensuring the delivery of high quality diversion and early help interventions that address risk behaviours and remove barriers for children aged 10-11 to build skills, resilience, and engage positively at their new secondary school.

The successful candidate will need:

  1. A relevant vocational qualification at least to NVQ level 3 and post-qualifying experience in a fieldwork setting.
  2. Significant experience of delivering 1:1 support, group work and structured programmes to children, young people and families
  3. The ability to manage risk and vulnerability working effectively with other professionals in order to safeguard children.

If you have a strong track record in empowering children, young people and families to shape their own lives, and you are passionate about supporting stronger families and children we would like to hear from you.
