Job Title: Sign Support Worker (0-25)
Location: Countywide (Based at Apsley, Hemel Hempstead, Stevenage or Hertford)
Salary Range: £24,799 - £26,999 (pro-rata)
Hours: Term Time Only
The SEND Specialist Advice and Support Service, within Integrated Services for Learning (ISL), works with children and young people who have a range of special and complex needs. These include sensory impairment, physical and neurological impairment, communication and autism, and specific learning difficulties.
We have developed an exciting new role within the Specialist Advisory Service for Hearing Impairment; a highly skilled and multi-professional service.
You will be fluent in both British Sign Language (BSL) and spoken English, hold a relevant qualification in childcare or education, and have experience delivering support in educational settings. You will provide opportunities for hearing parents to learn sign, to support their deaf babies and children in early communication, support staff in educational settings to better include children whose first language is BSL and deliver sign language training to children, schools and families.
You will be based in one of the Hertfordshire County Council sites in Hemel Hempstead, Hertford or Stevenage but will work across Hertfordshire in schools, homes and other educational settings. You will enjoy working with dedicated and talented colleagues who make a positive difference to the lives of children and young people with and their families and help promote an awareness of Deaf Culture and Deaf issues in Hertfordshire
Due to the nature of this role you will be required to travel, therefore a full driving licence is essential and access to a vehicle is desirable.
