This is a 9 month secondment. Post is currently working remotely but office base is County Hall and will be required to work there for some specific tasks that cannot be completed from home.

About the role
The Support Services Manager leads projects and activities that enables the Democratic Services team and 81 County Councillors to function effectively.
This post is varied and requires the holder to use their initiative and be a practical problem solver. A can-do attitude alongside excellent communication and project management skills are essential.
Working daily with County Councillors and senior officers from across the organisation, the post holder must be politically aware, authorative and a skilled negotiator.
The post is responsible for managing the service’s Business Support Function. It is preferable that the post holder is an experienced line manager, with a track record of supporting teams to reach their full potential.
This is an exciting time to join our service, as we work to maximise the potential of remote meeting technology and begin to prepare for elections in 2021.
To be shortlisted for this post, we need you to demonstrate that you have the skills and experience required for the role including:
- Proven problem solving skills, and the ability to use your initiative to come up with workable solutions.
- Strong political awareness, influencing and negotiating skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- An aptitude for IT, with the ability to quickly familiarise yourself with new technology and support others to adapt to new systems and processes.
- An awareness of key project management principles and the ability to apply them to your work when necessary.
- Experience of line management.
