Job introduction

We have an exciting opportunity for you to become an Environmental Enforcement Officer and to work within our friendly team at Cityclean.  Working in Environmental Enforcement, you will be working as part of a proactive team who issue fines for environmental offences, such as littering and fly-tipping, graffiti, dog fouling, as well as community engagement and education to members of the public.

About the role

You will be part of a proactive team who maintain and improve the city’s Environmental Enforcement framework, following current government legislation. Brighton and Hove City Council are committed to providing an effective service, ensuring that waste is disposed of responsibly. Environmental Enforcement Officers are to help implement our education and fixed penalty notice service, assisting with any waste management under Environmental Enforcement.

To receive and investigate service requests related to environmental offences such as litter, spitting, urinating, defecating, fly-tipping, fly posting, unauthorised flyering, commercial waste offences and non-compliance of Duty of Care Certificates, graffiti, dog fouling or dog related issues and household waste issues ans if necessary, issue Fixed Penalty Notices in line with the relevant legislation.

Full training will be provided.

The role is full-time (37 hours per week) and permanent.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.

Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) Points-based Immigration System.
