About the role
The Senior Finance Assistant provides co-ordinated and comprehensive financial support throughout the Directorate in accordance with the County and Directorate Financial Procedures.
In addition to administering your own workload, you will be expected to provide assistance to the Finance Assistants within their hub. You will assist the Finance Team Leader with the training of Finance Assistants. Therefore you will need to be an expert in all processes and software within your hub.
The role supports the budget planning and monitoring activities for the Directorate budget. The role holder works collaboratively with team members to provide a high quality and efficient finance service to support the Directorate’s overall aim to improve outcomes for children.
Finance Assistants undertake routine financial functions, use SAP and assist in the accountancy cycle of budget monitoring and closure of accounts. They play a key role in the provision of a high quality and responsive finance service to operational teams and front-line staff. Continuously applying improvements to increase customer satisfaction, they work collaboratively to maintain a consistency of approach across the Directorate.
The role holder will work together with the Finance Team Leaders & Finance Assistants to establish objectives and take responsibility for managing a workload, organising and prioritising work to meet strict financial deadlines. Regularly updating the FTL & SFA on workload status and raising any potential problems in meeting deadlines. They will work as part of a team and build positive relationships with team members and practitioners.
The Children, Schools and Families Directorate provides a range of highly specialist services to children and young people who are vulnerable, and/or have special educational needs including complex disabilities, or additional needs such as English as a second language.
Services are delivered directly to children and their families, to early years settings, to schools and alternative education settings, within extensive statutory frameworks.
