As part of its programme to delivery the New Routes to Good Growth Housing Infrastructure Fund, Medway Council is recruiting an experienced and knowledgeable manager for its Strategic Environmental Management Scheme (SEMS) initiative. Located on the Hoo Peninsula, an area supporting SSSI, Ramsar and SPAs areas, the SEMS is a key £14m component of the HIF programme. You will be developed SEMS as an evidence-based suite of mitigation and compensation measures capable of ensuring housing can come forward in this environmentally sensitive area.  Your job will be to deliver the SEMS initiative to budget and on time.  

You will be working alongside a core team of officers, land owners, community and environmental stakeholders, and council members – all of whom will have a call on your time and input into your planning and delivery. You job will be to manage these sometimes-competing demands. 

The SEMS Project Manager will be responsible for liaising with landowners and stakeholders on the extent and design of the SEMS network of green and blue infrastructure. You will develop and deliver Cost Plans and Delivery Programmes for numerous sites ensuring 100% delivery by March 2024.  

You will be responsible for procuring the delivery and maintenance of SEMS, and for ensuring full ownership of the outputs by environmental stakeholders and local communities.  

You will help inform the Hoo Development Strategy and the planning for both Green and Blue Infrastructure and BNG.
