Electoral Services Officer

Brent is a tremendously vibrant London borough where the iconic arch of Wembley Stadium dominates the skyline. Spanning both inner and outer London, it is a borough of huge contrasts in terms of its economic, environmental, ethnic and social make up. Brent’s diversity is evident to all who visit our borough and our long history of ethnic and cultural diversity has created a place that is truly unique and valued by those who live and work here.

The council is pursuing a far-reaching transformation agenda that better meets the needs of our community so it is an exciting time to join us.

The Post

Due to a promotion, we are looking for a committed and enthusiastic person to join our Electoral Services team.
The successful candidate will play a large part in the preparation for and conduct of all elections and referendums. You will play a key role in maintaining the accuracy and comprehensiveness of the electoral register. In addition you will assist in developing promotional strategies and public engagement events in order to encourage registration and participation.

The Person

You must be able to demonstrate effective administration, organisational and communication skills and have the ability to work as part of a team. The ability to be able to respond to pressure at peak times, manage your own workload and deliver high quality work to strict deadlines. You must also have excellent IT skills. Knowledge of Electoral Services processes and the legal framework surrounding electoral functions including the Electoral Commission performance standards is essential.
Normal hours are 36 hours a week but staff are expected to work additional hours and occasionally at weekends at the busiest periods mainly in the weeks leading up to an election. Outside of these periods we would consider different working patterns, including a significant working at home element.
