Hillingdon Council operates 3 nurseries which provide childcare for babies and young children aged 6 months to 5 years. Our childcare provision supports working families, as well as providing funded places for children aged 2, 3 and 4 years old. We have a strong commitment to ensuring our provision is inclusive and meets the needs of all who attend, including children with SEND.
Our nurseries are currently in an exciting period of transformation, and we are seeking to appoint an innovative, dynamic and experienced professional to lead the service and drive the vision for how we meet the needs of our youngest residents.
About the role
As Service Manager for the Council's nurseries, you will provide line management for the nursery managers, ensuring the nurseries deliver high quality early education and care for children and families.
You will be responsible for ensuring the nurseries are fully compliant with the statutory framework governing registered childcare and deliver against a robust plan to ensure the sustainability of the service. Continually driving the business forward, you will also ensure the commercial and financial viability of the service, and delivery against occupancy targets.

You will be a confident, knowledgeable and innovative leader with demonstrable experience of delivering childcare services within a competitive market.
A strong understanding of early education and child development is essential, alongside a significant knowledge of child protection and safeguarding.
You will have previous senior management experience, and a significant proportion of this experience should be within early years and childcare settings. You will also have experience of working in partnership with residents and stakeholders from health, education and social care.
Finally, you will have knowledge and understanding of the EYFS statutory guidance for settings delivering early education and care. Knowledge of Ofsted standards and requirements is also vital.
