Environmental Enforcement Officer - Gateway Improvements
37 hours per week, Fixed Term for 2 years
We are looking for a self-motivated and enthusiastic person to join our team of Enforcement Officers and to help us fight back against offenders committing Environmental Crimes.
The appointment, for a 2-year fixed term, will see you focus efforts on achieving improvements to properties and land along the key gateway route for Grimsby and Cleethorpes, between Riby Square and Isaac’s Hill.
The successful candidate will be expected to build relationships with property owners and developers to support their efforts to regenerate the area, using enforcement powers, when appropriate, to remove barriers to regeneration and to tackle resistant owners of properties holding back improvements.
As an authorised officer of the Council, you will investigate offences and enforce against a range of Environmental and Anti-Social Behaviour legislation, under the direction of a Senior Compliance Officer.
You will need to have excellent interpersonal skills and an enquiring mind, to be able to identify and process evidence that may lead to successful prosecutions relating to crimes such as fly-tipping, littering, dog fouling and breaches of Public Space Protection Orders, etc.
You must also be able to deal with confrontational situations and to remain calm but assertive when issuing Fixed Penalty Notices to offenders or fines.
