About the role

Would you like to make a difference to a person’s life?

Are you looking for something different but worried you don’t have the right skills?

Whether you have previously worked with people with Learning Disabilities or are looking for a complete change of career, we believe that everyone has something to offer the people we support. Life skills, the right attitude and a genuine desire to help people to improve their lives are the most important characteristics of a support worker.

Your core values are what interests us about you the most. We can support you to learn the necessary skills as you will receive excellent training opportunities, a thorough induction and supervision as part of our commitment to you.

The role will be full of variety, with no two days the same

Greenwood is a countywide Respite Services for adults with a Learning Disability in Bexhill, which has been refurbished to a high standard offering a hotel style service. Most of our bedrooms have en suite rooms and excellent facilities for our guests. We have interactive Sensory Equipment and the latest in Assistive Technology to enhance the experience of guests staying with us.

The service provides a fun holiday experience for long and short respite stays where we promote life skills, independence, community activities and opportunities to meet with friends.

This rewarding role would require successful candidates to provide both emotional and physical support for people staying in respite services who may be in distress or displaying behaviours that challenge.

Here are two quotes from staff working at our services:

“It has been a pleasure and a challenge supporting our guests, their care and support has been paramount in my working ethic which I believe is at the heart of the Greenwood ethos”

“It is with great honour and sincere gratitude to have spent the past 4 months working at Greenwood and have thoroughly enjoyed the working environment, friendly staff and professional atmosphere. The management, supervision, direction, guidance and most of all experience in this working environment has been a great source of personal and professional development. I would like to thank you for the great opportunities that have been extended to me while I have been here."

Due to the restrictions we cannot guarantee that individuals that meet the requirements of the Points-based Immigration System will be issued with clearance to obtain work permits.
