Location: Aylesford, Kent (Work from Home during COVID-19 lockdown)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, confident and organised person with excellent communication skills to join the Public Transport team at Kent County Council, playing a crucial role in developing and expanding the Fastrack Bus Rapid Transit network in Kent.
You’ll lead the ongoing management of existing Fastrack operations, as well as planning and delivering future projects, whilst supporting Kent County Council in fulfilling its overall transport strategies. Fastrack is central to a number of emerging strategic transport planning matters, so your role will include exposure to:
- the new Local Transport Plan,
- the new transport strategy for Transport for the South East (the emerging sub-national transport body),
- the Kent and Medway Energy and Low Emissions Strategy,
- the Growth and Infrastructure Framework, the Kent Environment Strategy,
- other major transport schemes across the county.
Qualified to NVQ Level 4 or equivalent in a related discipline, your experience will include public transport operations and you will understand strategic transport planning. Managing a busy and diverse workload you will possess a thorough understanding of current and emerging national transport policy. You will apply that knowledge alongside economic appraisal, big data application, business case development and project management skills. Under the direction of the Fastrack Development Manager, these attributes will enable you to deliver projects within agreed budgets and timescales.
Crucially, you will also excel at building strong partnerships, gaining the trust of a range of stakeholders from customers to company directors and senior politicians.
Remuneration will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
