About the role

Ringmer Primary and Nursery School is a one and a half form entry primary school positioned on the edge of the South Downs National Park, near Lewes. The school was extended in 2016 providing us with a wonderful learning environment and a purpose built EYFS area; we are situated in fantastic grounds that promote multiple opportunities for outdoor learning and provide excellent access to sporting facilities.

Ofsted 2019 "Leaders place the well-being of pupils at the heart of the school. Staff are trained thoroughly to care for pupils and to look out for their best interests. Pupils in turn trust staff, and this creates a happy, respectful learning community."

Ringmer Nursery is homed within the school building and is an integral part of our school and school community. We take children from 2 years upwards and regard it as a priviledge to be able to nurture children from such a young age. We are currently over subscribed and have a waiting list.

We are looking for an inspirational, energetic and experienced Nursery leader to teach our wonderful children and lead our team. We have an established and experienced Nursery staff team who work well with the Reception team to enhance provision and guarantee strong transition links.

The hours are 8am to 5pm (less an unpaid half hour lunch break) on Monday to Friday. These can be flexible to some extent, as you will be required to attend staff meetings, training, and Insets.

The post is term - time only, and pay is on a pro rata basis. If pay is on the single status basis, there will be overtime availabe when needed.

The unqualifed teacher pay would be on a full year salary.

You will need to ensure that the provision is of the highest quality; providing a safe, stimulating and caring, child-centred environment catering for the children's educational and developmental needs.

Quality and safety standards must be maintained in the Nursery at all times.

You will need to have a commitment to getting the best from all children and set high expectations to inspire excellence through motivation, creativity, engagement and challenge.

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Level 3 qualified or above
  • Has a commitment to working towards EYP status if not already achieved
  • A highly capable and creative practitioner.
  • Can inspire staff and take a lead role in raising standards
  • Able to motivate and inspire children and has high expectations of what can be achieved
  • Keen to develop professionally
  • Reflective, flexible and resourceful
  • Able to work successfully as a team member establishing effective working relationships and leading by example

Ringmer will offer you:-

  • Support with professional development
  • A friendly, welcoming and caring team
  • Well-behaved, happy and enthusiastic learners
  • Supportive and nurturing leadership
  • A learning culture that encourages leadership at all levels
  • Hands on and knowledgeable governing body
  • An engaged village community

To start in September 2020

If you think you have all the above skills, we would like to hear from you and welcome you to our school for a socially distanced tour of the school grounds. Please contact Kelly Cheesley on 01273 81243 in the school office to make an appointment. The Headteacher would love to meet anyone who is interested in joining our team to discuss the opportunity.
