Directorate: People and Communities
Starting salary: JM1:- £31,371 per annum
Location: Based in the Town Hall, Weston-super-Mare or Castlewood
Hours: 37 hours per week

We are looking to recruit to the Community Meals Team Manager as a permanent role.
North Somerset Council provides a Community Meals service which delivers nutritionally balanced, hot meals and a tea time snack each lunchtime, seven days a week, including bank holidays. This is a universal service and is not restricted to people with eligibility under the Care Act 2014.
The service also provides opportunity for a regular welfare check, plating of meals, food cutting and medication prompt. This additional support is provided as incidental to the meal delivery and as such is incorporated into the delivery offer. Given the nature of the customer base, staff on occasions face challenging welfare situations.
The Manger role can be based at either Town Hall Weston-super-Mare or Castlewood in Clevedon and there would be an expectation to travel between the two sites and the two kitchens for the service. Delivery rounds operate on a geographical basis from each kitchen; @Worle and Castlewood Canteen. The service incorporates the collection and delivery of heated, pre-packaged food to vulnerable individuals in the community in North Somerset between 11.00 a.m. and 2.30 p.m. each day.
The staff group comprises a Meals Coordinator, Helper/Drivers (contracted and casual staff) and Cooks (contracted and casual staff). The day to day administration of the service is undertaken by a dedicated team of business support staff employed by Agilisys.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, focussed and capable person to oversee the day to day operational management of the service and meals staff. You will ensure the continued delivery of the service; seeking opportunities to improve the service offer available and ensuring the best possible outcomes for our service users.
This role is for standard NSC working hours Mon-Thu 8.45 a.m. – 5.00 p.m. Fri 8.45 a.m. – 4.30 p.m. There may be occasions when management support is needed on a weekend to link with staff who only work on the weekends.
Previous management experience is required, including staff supervision and experience in working with vulnerable adults. You will need to show a commitment to a quality and caring service provision and have an ability to motivate a staff group in the effective delivery of the service. Understanding and experience of food hygiene and food handling would be an advantage but is not a requirement as training is available.
This post is exempt under the provisions of the Rehabilitations of Offenders Act (Exceptions) Order 1975 and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
North Somerset Council is an equal opportunities employer. We welcome applications from all sections of our community regardless of age, disability, sex, race, religion, belief or sexual orientation. North Somerset Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
