About the role

At Sandown Seagulls our nurture approach is to help our children to grow and develop with social, emotional and resilient skills. Nurture staff actively support the development of these skills through the use of role play, demonstrations, language and communication.

Sandown Seagulls is a class of six reception age children. Children attend Seagulls four mornings a week but remain an active part of their main reception class. They return full time to their classroom when they have achieved their individual Boxall target.

Due to a retirement we now have a vacant position. The relationship between our two staff members have always been supportive to the children and to each other. We are looking for someone to share their nurturing personality with our team.

Nurture staff are required to have:
• Knowledge of the six principles of nurture and Sandown Primary Core Values.
• Creative thinking and participation in role play
• ICT skills
• Involvement in planning and assessments
• Understanding of the possible barriers to education achievement and strategies required for overcoming these barriers.

We can offer you:
- children that are enthusiastic and eager to learn
- a strong, supportive and committed staff team
- opportunities to develop your professional skills

This post is covered by the Childcare Disqualification Regulations 2018.

The school will need to ensure that they are not knowingly employing a person who is disqualified under the 2018 Regulations in connection with relevant childcare provision.  Accordingly, the successful candidate will be required to demonstrate to the school, by completing a self-declaration form as part of the pre-employment checks process, that they have not been disqualified under the 2018 Regulations.

If the preferred candidate is found to be disqualified under the 2018 Regulations, the offer of employment will be subject to the application by the preferred candidate to Ofsted for a waiver and the receipt of a waiver from Ofsted.
