You will also be offered the opportunity to work as a Family Support Worker in Medway Children’s Services, whilst pending your Social Work England registration and prior to commencing your ASYE.

Through our Social Care Academy Medway offers NQSWs a unique ASYE programme above and beyond the basic requirements as set out by the DfE. Dedicated monthly training follows the Journey of the Child to ensure that by the end of the ASYE all NQSWs have knowledge and experience in all aspects of Children’s Safeguarding. Group Supervision helps NQSWs learn from each other’s experiences and training is provided by the Advanced Practitioners, internal trainers, Partner Agencies, and, crucially, Service Users. The Medway ASYE is based on the Knowledge and Skills Statement for Child and Family Social Workers in preparation for the upcoming National Assessment and Accreditation Service.

Upon completion of the ASYE programme you will receive a retention payment of £2,000. Beyond the ASYE Medway offers a programme for Continual Professional Development including accredited training courses, Graded Care Profile, Signs of Safety, Practice Educator Professional Standards (PEPS), Foundations of Practice training sessions, which will ensure a high standard of CPD. We have formed a Teaching Partnership with local universities and KCC which will ensure that our training is based on current academic theory and that our social workers can mix an element of academia with their practice throughout their career.

This role requires you to be a newly qualified social worker (graduated within the past 2 years) with experience of working with children and families from your student social work placement. You will need to be Social Work England registered (or eligible once qualified) and ready to commence your Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) in October 2020 and hold a recognised social work qualification. Medway welcomes applicants from both BA and MA university cohorts.
