DRIVER – ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES

Salary NS7: £21,589 rising to £22,911 per annum

Newark and Sherwood District Council is committed to making the district a cleaner, safer and greener place to live, work and visit.  This is reflected in the objectives of our Community Plan, available here, and the new Environmental Services Business Unit will have this at the heart of its activities.

We are now recruiting to fill a vacancy in the new Business Unit for a Class 2 Driver to cover various duties within the Waste Management part of the service. The position will entail working in a harsh environment in all weathers. Unsociable hours and weekend work is also anticipated. Experience in wheeled bin refuse collection and / or mechanical road sweeping would be advantageous but is not essential as full training will be given.

The ability to work alone and unsupervised is essential, as is a full Category C driving licence (Heavy Goods Class 2). In addition to the licence, you should also have completed 35 hours of CPC training and be in possession of a Drivers CPC card. The successful applicant will also be fully aware of all aspects of European Drivers Legislation and its impact on the service.

For more information, please contact Matt Adey, Waste and Transport Manager – Environmental Services, on 01636 655253.

Veterans/family of forces/ex-forces, those in care/care leavers, and candidates who declare a disability (as defined under the Equality Act 2010) will be guaranteed an interview provided they have demonstrated that they meet the essential criteria of the post as detailed in the Person Specification on their application form.

Closing Date: 9am, Tuesday 2 June 2020

Interview: To be confirmed
