More about the role:

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated person to join the Housing Assistance Team as a Housing Operations Officer. The team directly supports the delivery of the Council’s Housing Assistance programme of grants and loans, including the provision of major adaptations under the Disabled Facilities Grants programme, contributing to the Council’s priority of protecting the vulnerable and improving wellbeing. In addition to this, the team are responsible for the administration of public health funerals, and provides support to other teams within Housing Services, including support with financial and other systems. In this role you will be the first point of contact for our customers and will assist them with their applications for housing grants and loans, collecting the necessary financial evidence to carry out the required test of resources. As the IT lead within the team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing systems used by Housing Services including the replacement of a current case management system. You will be responsible for providing the necessary guidance, training, and on-going maintenance and development of the system(s), and for creating reports to provide data for Government returns, business intelligence, and Freedom of Information requests.

You will either hold a level 4 qualification or be able to demonstrate considerable experience in a relevant area of work such as IT system development. Excellent IT and numeracy skills are essential, as is the ability to interpret complex information and communicate it clearly, both verbally and in writing. You should also be able demonstrate good interpersonal skills, particularly those necessary in providing a high level of customer care and those required for coaching/training colleagues successfully. Due to the nature of the role you would be expected to be able to plan and prioritise your workload effectively and to use your initiative (respecting procedure and regulation).
