Are you passionate about making a difference and supporting families that need help? Can you engage effectively with a range of people? Do you have experience working within a multi-agency context, assessing need and bringing people together?

Woking Borough Council is recruiting a Family Coordinator to join its diverse team in supporting whole families who have multiple and complex needs. We are looking for a highly skilled, dynamic and committed staff member to join our team and work effectively and meaningfully with families in Woking.

The Woking Family Support Team provides innovative support to families and creates multi-agency Teams Around the Family (TAF) for holistic and targeted intervention. Our families have multiple and complex needs that include parenting, safeguarding, education, finance, employment, crime, anti-social behaviour, domestic abuse, housing, health, mental health and substance misuse.

Applicants will have experience of working in a relevant field such as child or adult social care, community policing, probation, health, education, housing, youth work or work with parents. Strong empathy and communication skills are imperative and Family Coordinators are required to quickly build trust and rapport, helping families to move productively forward.

Applicants will be passionate, assertive, organised and committed to multi-agency working, with strong skills in assessment and intervention. We are committed to developing our staff and full, robust training and support will be provided.

Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic in the UK, working from home is currently being encouraged.

The Woking team is part of the wider Surrey Family Support Programme which is part of the national Troubled Families Programme. For a current update about the national Troubled Families Programme please click here.

As this job involves contact with vulnerable groups including children, successful applicants will be required to obtain a Disclosure Certificate from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). Assistance will be given by the Council and further details will be in the job application pack.

Woking Borough Council take a robust approach to thoroughly checking anyone who has applied to work with vulnerable groups including children.

It is also a requirement for this role that applicants hold a valid full UK Driving License.

The Council offers in return a generous flexi time scheme with the ability to take 2 flexi days a month, membership of the local government pension scheme, discounted health and leisure membership, plus many more excellent benefits.

For an informal chat about the role, please contact Emily Burrill (Team Manager) on 07342 070788

For this role, we particularly encourage applications from males, who are currently under-represented in this part of the service.

Interviews will take place on 23rd June 2020. Given the current circumstances in the UK, interviews may be carried out virtually. This will be confirmed nearer the time.
