People Directorate – Youth and Community Service
VAWG (Violence against Women and Girls) Operations Manager
Salary: P03 £38,403 - £41,466
Hours: Full time 35 per week permanent
Manages: 2 staff
Islington Council, together with its partners, is fully committed to preventing and tackling domestic violence and abuse and in January 2020 announced significant new investment to fund an ambitious programme of Violence against Women and Girls (VAWG) Service Transformation. The aim is to build an integrated framework to stop VAWG and improve the health and wellbeing of individuals and families who experience family violence including domestic violence and abuse, and controlling and / or coercive behaviour.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Youth and Community team. We are expanding our VAWG services to improve outcomes for victims/survivors and to those who use violence in their intimate relationships. As well as leading on the development and commissioning of a range of VAWG services, the role will be following the principles of Islington’s Motivational Practice model to support children and victims and survivors to achieve more meaningful and sustainable change in parallel with safeguarding.
The VAWG Operations Manager will play a lead role in delivering the VAWG service transformation programme including the establishment of the new Intimate Partner Violence Service and Daily Safeguarding meetings. We are seeking to recruit someone with expert operational management skills to manage the delivery of a range of projects around victims/survivors and their families affected by VAWG. In addition the candidate will have an excellent track record of directly managing and motivating staff who deliver front line VAWG support services, taking responsibility for all aspects of the operational management process including contributing to the analysis of needs and costs, benchmarking, and pathways for delivering services, setting outcomes and outputs for service delivery that are measurable and linked to the council’s priorities.
If you are passionate about fairness and making a real difference to the lives of victims/survivors and families experiencing VAWG in Islington then this could be the job for you.
