Redbridge is an ambitious, diverse and exciting east-London borough. What we do is driven by changing our relationship with local people to support our vision of creating Brave New Towns. As a result, we've developed innovative ways to build our communities and transform our Council.
We're one of the fastest growing parts of the country and the third most diverse London borough. Our communities are attracted by a mixture of excellent schools, relatively affordable housing, high-quality open space and rapid transport connections into the heart of the City.
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Senior Environmental Health Practitioner to join our Environmental Health Service to help shape the future of the borough.
Reporting to the Group Manager Environmental Health, you will be responsible for the day to day supervision of a small but busy team dealing with a full range of pollution control activities across the Borough including environmental permitting, land contamination, air quality and noise matters. The role also requires you to provide support to development control colleagues in respect of planning applications which have environmental impact implications.
Improving Local air quality is a high priority for the Borough and you will be involved in shaping and delivering projects to help improve the air we breathe in Redbridge.
With a track record in Environmental Health you’ll have a proactive, solution-seeking approach. The role requires excellent communication and skills and the ability to deal confidently and effectively with the public, businesses and members of other organisations. A strong work ethic, ability to manage a varied caseload, positive approach to delivering improvements and a commitment to customer service are essential.
This is an excellent opportunity for individual who is looking to gain management experience.
The successful candidate will need to hold a degree in Environmental Health or other relevant environmental science. You will have extensive knowledge of current laws, regulations, case law, guidance, policies, procedures, and developments in Environmental Health. A post graduate qualification in noise would be desirable.
If you would like to find out more about the role please contact Themis Skouros, Group Manager Environmental Health by email in the first instance: email@example.com
