We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated individual to join our highly effective parking team

The parking team is responsible for the management of the on and off street parking schemes within our civil parking enforcement areas in Adur and Worthing. 

The Parking Officers assume day to day responsibility for the management of each stage of all Penalty Charge Notices (PCN). This includes compiling and presenting cases to the Traffic Penalty Tribunal. Additionally, the team are also responsible for cases that reach bailiff stage. Parking officers undertake audits ensuring compliance with parking regulations and undertake project work.

You will be proactive with the daily workload within the Parking Services team, ensuring a comprehensive and quality Notice processing service is provided within the legislatively defined guidelines and deadlines. 

You will be required to deal with parking related enquiries by telephone, in person, by letter and electronic communication effectively. You will need to make important recommendations for Penalty Charge Notice ‘cancellation or write off’ following consideration of the evidence submitted by an appellant against the council’s evidence.

You will be expected to establish and maintain accurate and appropriate systems and produce reports or management information as required.

As a Parking Officer there will be conflicting demands on your time so you must be skilled in managing your time and be able to prioritise workloads to make sure deadlines are met. You must have excellent IT, written and oral communication skills. Being able to communicate effectively using plain English is essential. You will need to be able to work with tact and sensitivity and have an ability to cope in sometimes stressful situations.
