Welcome to the Integrated Adolescent Safeguarding Support Service (IASS).
We provide support that improves outcomes for children and young people between 10 and 18 years old, and up to 25 for young people with Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
We are committed to seeing life through the eyes of young people in Havering. We promote positive language and attitudes toward young people, their networks and communities. Coproduction is at the heart of our work, and young people’s voices are at the centre of the design and delivery of our service.
Our core aim is to safeguard children and young people who may be at risk of harm outside of family and home. In recent years, we have seen an increase in the exploitation of children and young people in Havering. We use techniques like information sharing between agencies and data analysis to identify those young people who may be at risk of exploitation. We then work with young people to protect them from harm and improve their life chances.
Our integrated service is multi-disciplinary, and made up of a dedicated team of professionals from:
- Adolescent safeguarding team
- Youth justice service
- Youth Influence and Participation Service
- Virtual school
- Child Exploitation / Missing coordination, working across this team and Social Care
- Clinical health posts
- Data analysis to enable earlier identification of children vulnerable to criminal exploitation
Our preventative approach to support and intervention with young people is informed by our understanding of:
- The impact of trauma and adverse childhood experiences
- Young people’s experiences of risk in places and people outside of family, home and school
•The power of language and relationship-based practice
YOS Operations Manager
Grade 10- £49,464 to £53,544pa
The YOS Operations Manager is responsible for the delivery of a youth offending service which ensures that children, young people, families and communities are effectively safeguarded. This includes using statutory interventions within the criminal justice and social care frameworks.
The YOS Operations Manager will provide direct oversight and decision making on complex cases with the service. Take the lead on court work, restorative approaches adopting the whole family approach.
The role is required to work with in a multi-disciplinary collaborative style ensuring that the team delivers to a high standard of performance in line with statutory obligations and national standards.
The YOS Manager will lead on the Youth Justice Plan in order to meet the strategic objectives set out by the Youth Justice Board.
The role deputises for the Group/team managers across the Integrated Adolescents Safeguarding Service.
To lead on assigned projects to the youth offending service.
As YOS Operations manager you will lead a team and have HR responsibility ensuring ongoing continuous development of the service.
The YOS Manager has budget accountability for the Youth Offending Budget, working within set budgets and resource to provide best value for money.
The Role will support Havering Children’s Services Face to Face collaborative model of working.
You will hold a Social Work qualification as recognised by the HCPC.
You will be able to evidence a post qualification study in working with children and families and Child Protection.
Your knowledge of current legislation will be up to date and current.
You will have substantial experience of working in front-line child protection to equivalent of ‘senior practitioner’ level. You will understand the impact of Child Protection issues, and how they impact that it has on children, young people and their families.
You will be experienced in leading the delivery of a youth offending service to national legislation.
You will have lead a multi-disciplinary team to a high performing standard.
You will be able to manage a budget and resource to provide best value for money.
