The London Borough of Havering’s Registration Service is based at Langtons House in Hornchurch and is responsible for the registration of all births, deaths and marriages in Havering.
In addition, other services are provided such as Notice of Marriage, Civil Partnerships, Naming Ceremonies, Renewal of Vows and other Ceremonies. The service also holds Citizenship Ceremonies and is responsible for producing copy certificates.
Adjacent to Langtons House is a large hall which is hired out by the Service for functions including wedding receptions.
The service has six approved premises throughout the Borough which are licensed for civil marriage and partnership ceremonies, staff regularly attend these to perform ceremonies.
In this role you will be part of the Havering Registration team working on a casual basis, offering a professional and dedicated service to our customers.
You will be required to provide an efficient and effective registration service for births, deaths, marriages and civil partnerships in accordance with statutory duties, you will also be required to conduct ceremonies in line with service standards as determined by the Proper Officer.
It would be desirable if you had experience in the field of Registration, but if not, you must have experience of working with the general public and be able to demonstrate that you have a good memory, excellent customer service skills, excellent IT skills, clear presenting skills and an interest in law and legislation, we will provide the appropriate training for you.
You must also have a good level of numeric and written skills.
The successful applicant must be able to work flexibly to meet service demand e.g.: covering open evenings and special events including ceremony packages and wedding fairs. Must have access to own vehicle and be able to drive. Post holder will be required to work at different sites within Havering to undertake certain duties. Post holder must be able to work at weekends as required to cover ceremonies and other appointments with customers.
Post holder must be prepared to work on a rota basis on Bank Holidays to cover emergency call out.
