Barnsley Special Educational Needs Disability Information Advice Support Service (SENDIASS)
SENDIASS is a valued and recognised service within BMBC. We are seeking to recruit a member of the service to help provide SEND specific case work of Information, Advice and Support to parents carers and young people. The successful post holder will receive ongoing support from SENDIASS manager and be expected to undertake the required legal training expected of staff within a SENDIASS. SENDIASS prides itself on being a positive advocate of BMBC’s business vision and also in the provision of a high quality organisation for the local area and SEND communities. This is a great opportunity for anyone wanting to develop a further expertise within SEND information, advocacy and service development. The ideal candidate will have a sound knowledge of SEND in the context of working with local parents carers, children and young people and have a desire to help develop SENDIASS further to support the statutory requirements and business needs of the local authority.
As a SENDIASS Officer you will be required to attend regional meetings, travel around the borough to meet with service users and to attend tribunal hearings around the region as part of the provision of Information Advice and Support to service users. SENDIASS is developing its service offer to Young People and children, has a positive social media presence and works closely with schools settings and other colleagues across health, education and social care.
The successful candidate will be interesting in the national context for SEND, the Children and Families Act 2014 and the local context and need to develop a strong understanding of SEND in our local area.
The post requires the post holder to be able to work remotely, use ICT systems to record information and work flexibly where its required.
